A short story with Abby, Gary and Valene

Chapter 1

Gary woke up he had fallen asleep at Abby's house, he jumped up getting dressed. Abby sat up, "what are you doing Gary, running back to Valene"?

"Yes, why did you let me fall asleep, how will I explain this"?

"Why are you here Gary, make you choice, stop with the running back and forth".?

" I love Valene, this would hurt her, and you know it"

" What about me Gary, do you care, this is hurting me too"?

" Abby you knew I was married, we hooked up for fun. Don't play this game with me, you just love the chase. If I stood here right now, would you give up everything, and marry me"?

Abby really liked Gary, but was she willing to give up her freedom, and life as she knew it for him.? She turned away, and he yelled, "Exactly, you want to hurt Val, but I don't"

"You don't you are making out with me Gary, what are you talking about"?

Gary grabbed his shirt, buttoning it up, he walked to the door. " I will see you later, I have to go to Valene". He ran out of the door, and Abby threw the pillow, " Run Gary, don't worry about me". Abby jumped up, walking to the mirror, she looked at herself, and she wasn't really happy with what she saw. She sat on the bed, and pulled the blanket around her. She was so alone, and she hated herself at the moment. She wiped the tears from her eyes, she was falling for Gary, but she wouldn't let him know it . He was using her, just like every man. She never cared in the past, but this time it hurt. She wouldn't give Gary or any man the satisfaction of knowing they hurt her. She got up, walking to the window, and looked out. She saw Gary walking to his home. He was running back to her, what excuse would he give Valene this time , she would believe him, what a fool?. She saw him straighten out his clothing, before opening the door. He went inside, and she saw the lights go on. She smiled, "Valene was up, and knowing he was getting a piece of her mind, made Abby laugh. She walked to the bathroom, and she got in the shower, and stayed in for the longest time. She was remembering stuff from the past, and she wondered when did everything go wrong?. She had her kids, and that was about it, she lost her Brother. He was mad at her most of the time, but he loved her, and that was comforting at least. She got out of the shower, walking to the bedroom, changing her clothes. She fixed her makeup and hair, and walked downstairs getting breakfast ready for her kids. She sat reading the paper, and having her coffee, when they came in. They were arguing and she loved hearing that this morning, because it made her forget her own problems. She looked over Olivia and Brian were looking at her, and she smiled.

"What is wrong"?

"Why aren't you yelling at us Mom, your real quiet"?

"I'm tired but why don't you eat, you bus will be here soon".

"Mom"

"What Olivia, you better hurry and finish your toast"?

" Why was Gary here last night"?

"What he wasn't"?

"I saw him leave Mom, he was in your room all night".

Abby jumped up, putting the toaster away. She didn't answer Olivia, hoping she would just forget the question. How would she answer her , without making herself look like a complete unfit Mother"? She turned, "Grab your books, and lunch, I will drive you to school today"

'Really", Brian ran grabbing his stuff, while Olivia grabbed her stuff , and walked to the door. " I would rather take the bus", She walked out, and Abby stood staring, "what did her Daughter think of her"?. Brian ran over, " I want a ride forget her, she is stupid".

"Brian don't say that, she is upset with me. I will drive you , I just have to grab my purse". Abby and Brian left, just as the school bus left with Olivia on it. She saw her looking at them, Abby waved, but Olivia didn't wave back.

Brian ran to the car, she walked over putting her sun glasses on. She got to the car , unlocking the door, she saw Gary come out of the house. He walked to his car noticing Abby, he stared, but turned when Valene ran out , handing him a bag. She kissed Gary, he kissed Valene back, and Abby got in the car. She pulled out, and started to drive away, but she could see Valene staring at her. She knew where Gary was, but she forgave him again. Abby kept driving, and Brian was talking a mile a minute, she kept driving, not hearing a word he was saying.

Chapter 2

Abby took Brian to school he kissed her cheek, and jumped out of the car. He ran over to his friends, and she drove off. She put the radio on, and was listening to music, she had a splitting headache, and wanted to forget everything that just happened. She got to the office, she grabbed her purse and her briefcase, and got out of the car. She was shocked when Gary came in right beside her, jumping out of the car. He walked over, "we have to talk Abby"

"No Gary you made your choice, be a husband to Valene. She loves you GOD knows why, but she does.? It is over between us Gary, I'm not going to be your night of fun anymore. Just leave me alone". Abby was walking into the building, she sees everyone staring, this is all she needs now. Gary grabbed her arm, " I told you , I can't leave Valene, I can't do that to her. I love being with you too , I thought you were fine with that"?

"I was not anymore, my Daughter saw you leave this morning".

"OMG what did you say"?

"Nothing, what can I say the truth, Mom is a home wrecker.? I never thought about the kids asking questions Gary".

"We will be more careful, I can't fall asleep anymore".

"OMG Gary are you insane, I won't play this game anymore. Go to work go home to Valene, and be her husband".

"I won't let you go Abby, not like this, your angry".

"I am because you are acting crazy, it is over. I need someone in my life that will be there when I wake up. Who will get to know my kids, and love them. I'm tired of this, I don't blame you , I blame myself for this mess. Goodbye Gary, I really did care about you, but in the end, we were not good for each other".

Abby was going into the office, Gary ran up the stairs. " I will end this Abby not you"

Abby ran over to Gary pushing him, "stop this you are making fools of us, grow up Gary, it is over".

'You are nothing but the town Tramp , and everyone knows it".

"Fine go".

"I'm leaving but you will be begging for me to come back Abby. I won't do you get that, I won't".

Abby started to laugh, and Gary ran over, "what is so funny Abby"?

"You do you really think your that amazing Gary, you were fun while it lasted"? Gary backed away , and ran down the stairs. Abby was afraid, she saw something in Gary's eyes, that changed. She yelled out his name, but he got in the car, and drove off. She stood watching his car leave, but she knew he was in trouble. Why did she say that, she didn't mean it.? He was the one person, she was falling for but she knew he wanted Valene. She walked into the building, and went to her office. She put her purse, and briefcase down, and sat in her chair. She couldn't stop the tears from flowing, she hated being weak, what was wrong with her?

Chapter 3

Abby was so upset she was working, but not concentrating very good. She was having the worst day of her life, when the secretary, buzzed saying someone was there to see her. She thought it was Gary, and said she could let them in. She sat trying to stay calm, she knew it probably was over between them, but she just wanted it to end civil, not the way they acted outside. They secretary Trish opened the door, and Abby's face dropped when Valene walked in, and Trish shut the door. Valene smiled, " Oh you were expecting Gary weren't you"?

"No, but I sure wasn't expecting you Valene. I have had a horrible day, please leave before this gets ugly".

" A horrible day Abby, no that is what I'm having not you"

"Ok you are having a bad day Valene, I'm sorry can you go now. I have to work, some people do that you know"

"How dare you talk down to me Abby, at least I'm not a Tramp like you"?

"Tramp nice talk from sweet little old Valene". Valene was so angry she was shaking, she sat down, and Abby glared at her.

"Fine, say what you want then leave Valene"

" Why did you have to go after Gary, he is mine. You could have anyone you want, but my husband why"?

"What makes you think, I have been with Gary"?

"Don't insult me Abby you have, I have seen him leave your home"

"Really and you stay with him, are you that desperate Valene"?

"I have loved Gary since I was 16 years old ".

"Yeah, but maybe he didn't really love you the same way"?

"You think your so great don't you Abby? I feel sorry for you, one day you will be old, and have no one beside you".

" Valene your concern for me is overwhelming, but don't worry about me".

"You have children, they will find out what you are one day".

"I'm there Mother shut up Valene", Abby screamed at her. Valene was shocked, and she realized what Abby's weakness was her children.

"I'm sorry if I upset you, I don't know if your a good Mother or not? You have a Daughter she is really sweet. Do you want her to grow up thinking it is alright to sleep around, and take other peoples husbands"?

" Valene, I didn't take Gary, he came to me. If you want your man keep him at home, ask yourself why he roams over to my place"?

"Because your available Abby".

"Wow your marriage is that amazing, you need to sit down with Gary Valene not me. Why forgive him, you make him make a choice, me or you"?

"You really want Gary Abby"?

"You want a honest answer Valene"?

"Yes, Abby if that is possible with you"?

"Gary is special, and I really like him, but he is playing with us both. He has to make a choice, I have told him that already. I was ok with him running home to you this morning. I thought it was over, but he came here today. He wants his wife at home, and a plaything on the side. I won't be that anymore, but if it is me he wants, my door is open Valene. You talk to your man, you are wearing the ring, you are the only one to end this once and for all"

"If he picks me, you will leave him alone"?

"Yes, I will I'm tired too Valene".

Valene got up, "I will talk to him, but I hope you lose Abby".

Abby got up opening her door, and Valene walked out, and Abby slammed the door. She leaned against it, and walked to her desk. She pulled out a picture of Gary with Sid, touching his face. "Gary who do you want Valene or me"? She put the picture back, and tried to compose herself, realizing, she would have to wait and see, who he picks"?

Chapter 4

Abby went home after a bad day at work. She was glad to see Olivia and Brian, and she sat talking to them about school. She smiled, "how would you both like pizza for supper"?

"Yeah really Mom, I thought you hated ordering take out".

"After today it sounds great". She ordered the pizza and chicken wings, and she set the table. The food came, and they were eating, and having a lovely dinner. She laughed, the kids were telling her about a play that they were going to be in. She promised she would come this time, she missed the last play they were in. She cleaned up, as the kids ran into the living room to watch their favourite show. She walked in, and sat watching Charlie Angels with them. She laughed Brian was bugging Olivia, and they all started to laugh. Abby loved this evening, she needed to be close to her children. She heard a knock at the door, she jumped up, "I will be right back". She opened the door, and was shocked, when Valene stormed in yelling. "Where is Gary Abby, is he in your bedroom"?

"Valene my kids are right here, Gary is not here".

"He didn't go to work, and he never came home Abby".

" I don't know where he is Valene, stop this in front of my kids"?

" You ruined everything Abby, he was happy we were happy. He stopped drinking, you get involved with him, and he has changed. I think he is drinking again, and it is all your fault. If something happened to Gary it is your fault Abby". Valene ran out of the house, and Abby shut the door. She turned, and the kids were staring at her. She walked over, and Olivia ran upstairs, and Brian turned off the show. He smiled, "I'm going to bed Mom". He walked upstairs, and left Abby alone. Abby sat on the couch, and picked up the phone. She called Karen, asking her if she could come over for 1 hour to watch the kids? Karen said yes, and Abby waited, until she came. She left, and got in her car, she thought she knew where Gary was. She drove to the beach, the place, they both hung out at a lot when they first started seeing each other. She walked over to the bridge, and she was right, there was Gary standing by the ledge looking at the water. Abby walked toward Gary, and she touched his back. He turned, he had a bottle of Vodka in his hand, and he was drunk. Abby hated seeing him this way, she felt sick, she touch his arm. He moved away, "what are you doing here Abby"?

"Valene is frantic, go home to her Gary"

" Shut up Abby, don't you dare tell me what to do"

"I'm not, why are you drinking again Gary"?

"Because of you Abby, why did you come into my life"?

" I'm sorry, it is obvious you love Valene, she will forgive you. Give me that bottle, and go home to your wife".

"That is the problem, I love Valene, but I love you to Abby"

"You can't love us both Gary, it isn't fair to me and Valene. You have to make a choice, who do you want Gary"?

"Both of you Abby, I can't choose, and I can't lose you".

Abby put out her hand, "Lets go home, and you can sleep this off"

"At your house Abby"?

"If that is what you want sure, I can't leave you here like this".

"Do you love me Abby"?

"Yes, Gary, but I don't want to be the other woman".

Gary walked over, " What am I going to do Abby, I can't hurt Valene"? He almost fell he was so drunk, Abby put her arm around him. She walked him to her car, and got him inside. He was asleep as soon as he got in the car. She stood on the drivers side door, she started to cry, she didn't know what to do?

in this case it is Gary who is at fault he needs to make up his mind he his hurting to people Abby has kids she needs to think about and Valene has her marriage to think about. Gary needs to think about soemthing other than himself. wonderful writing

Chapter 5

Gary was talking but making no sense, Abby didn't know what to do? She looked at Gary, and he was so out of it. She didn't want her kids to see him this way. She drove home, and brought Gary to his home, and Valene ran out of the house. She yelled, "You got him drunk Abby"?

"No, he was at the beach". Gary got out of the car, and yelled, "you lied Abby, you were going to take me to your house".

"My kids, I can't let them see you like this Gary. You would scare them, go with Valene, and sleep it off". Gary walked over, grabbing her arm. Abby pulled away, he lost his balance, and fell to the ground. Valene ran over, trying to get him off the ground. Abby couldn't believe, Valene she was so in love with Gary, and forgave him no matter what. Valene yells, "Help me get him in the house Abby".

Abby knelt down, and Gary pushed them both away. "I don't need either of you to help me". He went to stand up, but fell again. Abby wanted to laugh, he was going to be feeling pain tomorrow. Abby and Valene grab a arm each, and walked him into the house. Abby helped him to the couch, and Gary was yelling, but in minutes, he was out cold. Abby started to walk to the door, and Valene yelled, "wait Abby".

Abby turned around, "I have to get home, Karen is watching the kids".

"How did you know where to find him"?

"Don't Valene, just talk to him tomorrow, I don't want to fight with you".

"He wanted to go to your house".

"Yes, but he is so drunk, I doubt he really knows what he wants".

"I do everything for him, but it isn't enough".

Abby went to walk out, but she turned, " he loves you Valene", she smiled and left her house. She got in her car, and drove home, and went inside. Karen was sitting on the couch reading, and Abby said thanks for watching the kids. Karen was leaving, and she turned, "I spoke with Olivia tonight, she is really confused"

"About what"?

"You, she knows about Gary, she can't believe you would hurt Valene".

" Karen I really care about Gary, but I took him home tonight. If he walked in the door this moment, and said he loved me, I would welcome into my life. He doesn't know what he wants, he loves Valene, but she allows him to cheat. I don't want to be the other woman this time it is hurting not going after what I want"

"You want Gary Abby you could have anyone"?

"You loved Sid, and how lucky were you to get Mack. Is it so wrong, that I want what you have Karen? I want a Father for my children, and I want someone to love me. I never cared before, I was hurt once by my ex husband. I never told you what went on between us. So I won't say I'm sorry for my time with Gary, it was amazing, but he can't have me and Valene. I won't be the other woman this time". Abby turned away, and Karen walked over, and touched her shoulder. "Abby what you did tonight bringing Gary home, and taking him to his wife, was pretty amazing . I saw a side of you tonight, that was pretty classy. I don't want to see you and the kids hurt. Forget about Gary Abby walk away, and let Valene deal with him".

Karen walked to the door, and Abby yelled, "thank you Karen, I know your trying to help'. She left, and Abby sat on the couch, and curled up, she knew she did the right thing, but why was her heart telling her she didn't.?

Chapter 6

Abby talked to Olivia, and they were having a great talk. They went downstairs for a hot chocolate before going to bed. Brian fell asleep already, so it was just the two of them. They were about to turn in for the night, when they heard banging at the door. Valene told Olivia to go to bed, she would be right up.

"Mom, don't open the door".

Abby touched her face, "Go up, I will get rid of whoever it is promise". Olivia ran upstairs, and Abby walked to the door. She opened the door, and was almost knocked down, when Gary walked in yelling at her.

'Gary go home to Valene my children are sleeping"

'I don't care Abby, you want us to end, just like that"

" I'm not going to be the third person anymore Gary, you want your wife, and me too. It isn't happening anymore, so go home".

"You really are something Abby, you play with people's hearts".

"I'm not the married person Gary, you are, so don't you dare put me down"

"You made me want you, with you eyes, and coming on to me".

"Get out of my house now, It is over, let Valene put up with your crap"

"I will leave when I'm ready", Gary slammed the door scaring Abby . She has never seen him this angry, and him being drunk was making it worse. He was a nasty drunk, and she wanted him out of the house now. She tried to calm him down, but the more she tried to get him to leave, he yelled louder. She was shocked, when Valene and Mack walked into the house without knocking. Gary looked at Abby," you witch you called her to come here".

"You know I didn't how could I, you have been with me"?

"Valene go home, I will be there in a minute. I have to talk to Abby, we have to resolve this". Valene has tears in her eyes, and Mack yelled, "enough Gary lets go, sober yourself up. Then maybe you, Valene, and Abby can talk about this. You knew this would happen Abby, he was married, but you keep the affair going."

"Yes, it is all my fault, he came knocking tonight. I brought him home, don't blame me that Gary won't stay there"

"You wanted to hurt me Abby, but why"? Valene says

"Valene stop it, my kids are here, can you all get out of my house".

'Olivia was the one who called for help. Abby think of your kids, and find someone that isn't attached to someone else".

" Fine Mack, go". Mack grabbed Gary but he pushed him, "I can walk on my own". Gary walked out, and Mack walked out behind him. Valene looked at Abby tears streaming down her face. "Abby please stop this, I love him, don't do this to us"? Valene walked out, and Abby shut the door. She turned seeing Olivia on the stairs, "Mom why did you do this to Valene"?

"Olivia let me explain"

" You don't have to Mom, your a home wrecker, maybe I should go live with Dad." Olivia ran upstairs, and Abby was devastated, she sat on the stairs, she started to cry. She felt someone touch her shoulder, and she turned seeing Brian.

"Brian I thought you were asleep"?

"I was Mom, but Mr. Ewing woke me up"

"I'm so sorry baby, lets get you back to bed".

"Mom"

"What is wrong"?

"Don't worry, I won't leave you promise". Brian hugged her, and Abby held him tight, she couldn't lose her kids, they were all she truly had.
