Chapter 22
Melinda came back to the table, "He is really trying, he is going to Ray's house now"
Jessie and Lucy both say,Oh No at the same time"
"It will be fine, I think he just wants to talk"
"You sure"?
"Yeah lets finish eating, we all need a little fun in our lives"
Lucy smiled, "Lets dance, I love this music"
"Four girls really Lucy" Sanda said making Lucy laugh, "So what come on". The four of them got up dancing, they were laughing really enjoying themselves for the first time in a long time.
Gary got to Ray's house, and walked up to the door knocking. Ray thought it was Jessie she forgot her keys. He ran to the door.
"You forget your keys"
Ray saw Gary, "Please I promised Jessie no more fighting, please go away Gary"
'Can I come in"?
"Why"?
"To talk no fighting I promise" Ray let him in, Gary walked over to the couch.
"Do you want a coffee or a soda"?
"No vodka"
"Gary you don't drink why would you say that"?
"This has been a horrible week, and I'm still really angry Ray"
"I understand what I did was wrong, I wish I could go back, and change what I did. I was stupid, and really a punk back than, I know Lucy was young , and wild at the time. It happened, we both regret it now, we know it is wrong. I prayed no one from the family would ever find out, I was so ashamed. I know I hurt you, and the family, but I really hope someday you can forgive me"
Gary smiled, "I know Lucy was wild but you were the grown up Ray. You were not thinking with your head that is for sure" Ray sat down, "I know I was wild myself, I knew Jock would kill me if he found out, but we both were out of control."
"She was a child"
"She was a teen , and I know that is just as wrong, but I can't take it back now"
"I love Melinda, I have to try to forgive you for her, and Lucy. It will be awhile, but someday maybe I can look at you again, like my brother right now I can't"
"I understand"
"The Ewing BBQ is Saturday, please come with Jessie. Melinda and Sanda would want it so would the rest of the family. I understand Lucy is to blame too, but she was so messed up , you knew it Ray"
"I know Gary I feel sick"
"Do you think it was my fault"?
"What happened no it was all on me"?
"Did she hate me that much that she wanted to hurt me"?
"No she was spoiled she was confused, and she was wild. She wanted to act all grown up, but she was just a scared teenager who couldn't understand why her parents gave her up. I know Jock and JR took her from Valene but in her eyes she thought you should have fought harder for her. I kind of agree Gary, why didn't you fight your family you left poor Valene to do it"
"I wasn't ready to be a Daddy Ray, and my family drove me away. JR hated me , I couldn't take his abuse, and I couldn't deal with the responsibility of a wife, and baby. I ran away, and drank to drown my sorrows, but I hated myself"
"Lucy loved you, and she loved Valene, she always blamed JR never you both"
"Well JR deserved the blame, but I did more"
"You have a wonderful wife now, and your daughter is pretty amazing. She is really grown up, and is really trying to make a life for herself you should be proud"
"I was up until this week"
Ray whispered, "Yeah I know"
Gary whispered, "You are lucky Jessie is pretty amazing too, I'm sorry I hurt her"
"She is wonderful, she has stood beside me the whole time"
"She love you, and Bobby has Sanda, we all are pretty lucky"
"I agree, they deserve to be happy"
"I'm going to try Ray, I really am"
Ray smiled, "That is all I can ask" Gary got up, "I better get going, but I will see you at the BBQ right"
"We will be there"
Gary walked out, Ray shut his door, and walked to the couch. He was happy at least Gary made the first move toward forgiveness. He didn't deserve it but for Jessie he hoped the family could put this ordeal behind them, because he wanted his baby to be happy, and being part of the Ewing clan was hard at times, but he couldn't imagine not having them in his life.
