Elaine went for a walk, trying to comprehend what had just happened. He proposed! Jerry Seinfeld, of all people, proposed. Puddy, she could see that happening with. But this was not Puddy, It was Jerry, her best friend and one time love of her life.
So much had happened between them, good, bad, indifferent, that it almost made it impossible for her to say yes. Was that what she was hoping for? To marry Jerry? She loved him, she knew that, but to commit a lifetime-her lifetime- to a man whose neurosis matched her own, and almost as much as George's. A man who'd worked hard to earn enough laughs to maintain such a comfortable lifestyle in New York, sometimes to the chagrin of his own parents. A man who'd made her cry, made her laugh, but most importantly, he was a man who had stood by Elaine no matter how unlovable she was at times.
Marriage. What usually followed marriage were babies. Babies! She'd never really pictured herself a mother, but really, why shouldn't she consider having kids? After all, who better to help her endure the hardships of parenthood than the man who'd always made her see the humor in any given situation?
But that was still to be determined. What Jerry first needed from her was an answer, one which she knew that she'd just come up with.

"Elaine! Back so soon?" Jerry greeted her with a hug.
She studied him closely for a minute. He'd been crying! When had she ever seen Jerry Seinfeld cry? Never, and that was what was making all of this so puzzling.
"You okay?"
He wiped his face. "Yeah, yeah, it's just that I've been a little emotional lately. I don't know what's come over me. What if this continues- what if I'm not funny anymore?" he whined.
She shoved him playfully as she always did, almost knocking him over in the process. "you know I'm funny, I know I'm funny, but what if the audience doesn't know I'm funny? I'll be ruined, and I'll have to move to Florida with my parents!"
"You'll always have me," Elaine sighed wistfully.
"Are you okay? You're looking at me kind of funny."
"Don't tell me you forgot!"
"Forgot what?" Jerry asked.
"You forgot! How could you do this to me, Jerry?" With that, Elaine ran out the door, slamming it shut behind her. As far as she was concerned this would be the last time she ever saw Jerry Seinfeld.
