A short story , I want to write in Tribute to one of my favourite stars on Daytime TV. I adored Michael Zaslow, and Maureen Garrett, Holly and Roger on Guiding Light. Michael was such a wonderful actor, and when he took sick I was devastated, and I felt so horrible for him, and his family. I never really felt the show gave him the ending he truly deserved.
I never got a chance to say goodbye.
Holly has been pretty happy the last few months, but part of her couldn't really be happy, she basically worked, and came home, and worked from home. She rarely dated, but she went on a few, but nothing every seemed right for her. She has been dreaming, and thinking about Roger a lot recently, and it was starting to bother her. He moved away, and she should get over it, but she never stopped thinking about him. She was hurt by this man on more than one occassion, but she still loved him, but she couldn't tell him, she had to move on, and forget about Roger Thorpe. How is she suppose to do that when all she thinks about is the good times. She should replay the bad ones in her head, but she has been thinking about the good times, and not the bad. She remembered the time he was afarid of a shunk, and the time she spent with him at the cabin, and the almost kisses, and the looks they use to give each other everytime they saw each other. She should remember the rape, and how he made her feel, and how she for years blamed herself. She didn't deserve to be raped, but after years of looking back she forgave him, but she would never forget what he did.
Holly was getting dressed when someone was knocking at her door. She yelled out she would be right there, she grabbed her housecoat, and ran out seeing Blake, and Ross at the door. She ran over opening it, and told them to come in it was freezing out.
"What brings you here at 7:30 in the morning, I rarely see you both anymore are the kids ok"
"Yes they are fine, Mom can you sitdown for a minute we have to tell you something"
"I would love to chat but I have to get to work, I have an important project in the works, and I have to be there on time"
"Holly Roger has passed away it happened lastnight"
Holly was shocked she looked at Blake who started to cry, and she couldn't move to comfort her own daughter. She turned, and said she had to get dressed, she walked away leaving Ross, and Blake stunned.
"What is wrong with her she never cared about him"?
Ross knelt down, "Roger hurt your Mom so much, but I know she cared for him, so give her time to adjust to the news"
"She didn't say anything how rude is that"?
"It is called Shock Sweetie we just sprung the news at her , and it is 7:30 in the morning give her a break"
"Lets go, I left the kids with a sitter for her"
"I'm not leaving yet Blake she may need to talk to us"
"I'm taking the car you can get a ride with her, I'm sure she is fine " Blake left slamming the door shocking Ross, but he decided to stay, and talk to Holly. It was 15 later Holly came out, and was shocked seeing Ross still in her house.
"I thought you both left, I heard what she said"
"Holly please talk to me, I know you, and I know what your feeling right now"
"Really you know how I'm feeling that is great tell me how I'm feeling Ross"
"You cared for Roger, and let me tell you this, I don't get it. You thought of him all the time, and he ruined every relationship you ever had. You hated what he did to you, but in your heart you held him close, and now that he is gone you can admit it"
"Go home Ross, I don't need you to be my Shrink"
Ross ran over grabbing her arm.
"You really want me to leave you alone, God Holly are you really gotten this cold, and bitter it is no wonder you are here alone"
Holly lost it smacking Ross, but she started to cry, and all Ross could think was Thank God he finally got throught to her, but he hated seeing her cry.
He walked over, and pulled her close as he whispered.
"Just let it out Holly, I'm here for you"
I never got a chance to say goodbye.
