ch 1
Jessie wasn't sure what she was doing at the place she was at. She was at a restaurant, going on a blind date set up by her friends Melinda and Sanda. She normally didn't like being set up, but they had insisted so she agreed. It took her two hours to pick out something to wear. Just as soon as she settled on something, Sanda would say it was too revealing or Melinda said it wasn't revealing enough. How she got talked into this, she didn't know.
It had been a while since she'd been on a date. After her last breakup she had sworn off men, but now she was starting to feel lonely. She knew that it wasn't healthy for her to not date, even her mom encouraged her to go out more. But she wanted to be sure she wasn't going to get hurt again, and for that it might be worth the wait.
She finally settled on a red dress with black tights and some flats. After getting the approval from her friends, they all headed out to the diner. Melinda and Sanda were sitting at another table, still close enough to keep an eye on Jessie should anything go wrong. But Melinda was an optimist, she said this was going to be the most perfect night of Jessie's life. No pressure there, Jessie had nervously responded.
As she waited she wondered what had made them pick out this particular guy. Did Melinda and Sanda think that this guy was a perfect match for Melinda, or did they just feel sorry for her? Maybe they felt sorry for him too...was that any way to start a relationship?
Jessie smiled. A relationship. Maybe she was getting ahead of herself, but she was starting to get a good feeling about this night. After all, Melinda and Sanda would not steer her wrong. She knew they cared about her and didn't want her to get hurt, so maybe this evening was full of promise.
She looked at her watch. Still ten more minutes before the mystery man appeared. What did he look like? Was he as cute as her friends had described? What kind of job did he have? And most importantly, was he a good kisser? Jessie laughed, surprised at her own thoughts.
Melinda walked over to Jessie. “How are you feeling?”
“Nervous. Can you imagine?”
“Just think, my last date was a set up, and look how well it's been going for me.”
“I know, I've never seen you so happy.”
“You look great, Jessie.”
“Thank you. And even if things don't work out, I want to thank you and Sanda. It does feel good getting out of the house.”
“Something which I have a feeling you'll be doing more often.”
“Why is that?”
“Look over there.”
Jessie looked up, and she realized she had just looked at the man who would change her life.

Jessie I purposely left this open for you to decide who you want her mystery man to be. Just let me know!
