This is a one shot for you Melinda, I know how much your Father meant to you, and I know you miss him deeply. I hope you like this.
I miss you Daddy
Melinda worked at a local diner in Ohio, and she really didn't want to go into work today, actually all week. This was the fifth anniversary of her Father's death. She missed him so much, and her Son Max's missed him too. She hated that such a wonderful man her mentor, and best friend had to leave her. She knew he was suffering from cancer, and at times she blamed God for giving it to him in the first place. She understood so many people die from cancer every day, but she couldn't understand why there was no cure for this horrible disease that took her Dad away from her, and Max's who needed a Father figure in his life. She knew after work she was going to take her Son Max to put flowers down on his grave, and say a little prayer. She normally felt at peace when she visited her Father it was like she felt him around her, but she also felt sad, and depressed because she missed everything about her Father. He was strong, but sweet, he was understanding but set rules, that he expected her to keep. She remembered the day he got diagnosed he didn't tell his children he took them fishing, he didn't want to dwell on what was going to happen, he wanted to make every moment of his life count. He wanted his children to know how much he loved them, and how proud he was of them. Max worshiped him, and she could see her Dad loved Max's. She remembered the day her Dad passed away it was like everything stopped moving, and she couldn't breath. She had to be brave for her son, and her Mother but she wanted to scream, and curse, and go out, and forget what was happening. She remembered the last words her Father said to her, and Max's, and he told her he was proud of her no matter what mistakes she made in the past. He told her he would watch over her, and always be in her heart. She had her days where she was angry at him for leaving her, but she knew it was not his fault, he fought so hard to beat this devil of a disease. She hated everything about cancer, she wished her Dad didn't suffer, but you would not know it he was so brave. He loved his family, and his friends, and he left a legacy that he should be proud of. Melinda has had a rough few years but every time she felt herself slipping she felt his hand on her shoulder guiding her in the right direction. She knew she could never get her Dad back, but she knew she would always remember how much she loved him, and that made her a better person. He had faith in her, and she wanted him to be proud of her. She also wanted Max's to be proud of her, and she had wonderful parents, and she was not going to let them down. She did her shift, and went home, and got Max's, and they went to the cemetery with flowers, and Max's made him a picture which they put on his gravestone. She sat with Max, and they both talked for about 1 hour telling him everything that has happened in their lives. They knew people say he is gone, and he can't hear them anymore but Melinda and Max's knew that was not true. They felt his presence all the time especially when they were feeling down, or sad. He was always around to protect them, and that made Melinda smile she missed her Father so much, but she knew she will see him someday, and she knew he made her strong, he knew she was going to be a wonderful Mother, and he showed her how a Parent is suppose to raise their children. Her Mom, and Dad were both wonderful role models, and she adored her Mother she treasures every moment she has with her, but she knew she was Daddy's little girl. Melinda finally got up she touched her Father's gravestone, and whispered, "I love you Daddy, but I know you know that already.".
Her, and Max's left, Max's was a little sad, and so was she, but just visiting him made them feel better. She only hoped her Son Max's would grow up to be the man her Dad was because he was amazing, the best Dad in the world, and she missed him deeply.
The End.
