This can't be happening?

New story, I thought up, hope you like it.

Mac was in his office looking over some recent reports about a murder the team have been working on. He was trying to concentrate but his head has been hurting all day. He knew it was stress, but he knew he needed to focus, and look at all the evidence in front of him. He was reading when his cell phone went off it showed unknown number. He was surprised but he answered, "Mac Taylor how can I help you"?

Mac waited for a reply but there was silence, he was upset. "Hello who is this"?

He waited he was about to hang up when a woman voice whispered, "Mac"

"Yes this is Mac who is this"?

He heard someone crying he knew someone was upset or in trouble. "Please tell me who this is"?

"Mac help me". Mac froze he recognized the voice, but it couldn't be. He whispered, "Who is this"?

"Me Mac"

"God this isn't happening to me". He heard the lady whisper, "I have to go". The phone went dead, Mac held the phone staring at it. He whispered, "Your dead this is not happening"

Jo walked into the office, "Hi Mac have you read the reports"? Mac didn't answer he was looking at the phone, Jo knew something was wrong. "Mac what is wrong"?

"I just got a call from a lady asking for help, and she hung up"

"Who was it"?

"It said unknown caller, but her voice "

"Her voice you know her"?

"It was Claire "

Jo was confused , "Claire"?

"My wife it was her voice, but she is dead, it can't be"

"Oh God Mac it has to be someone playing a trick on you"

"What if it isn't"?

"Mac she died on 911, she would be with you right now if she was still alive"

"I know that Jo but it was her voice, I know my own wife's voice"

"Someone is playing a cruel trick on you , we will find out who it is"

"What if she is alive Jo, she is in trouble"

Jo walked over touching Mac's shoulder, "Lets see if we can trace the call" Jo took Mac's phone, and was trying to see if they could get a number. She couldn't she took the phone to Adam, he was working on it, but he turned. "There is no trace they have one of those disposable phone, they are traceless I'm sorry Mac". He grabbed the phone, "That is OK , it probably is someone playing a sick joke on me, but who would do this"? Mac walked out Adam looked at Jo. "Is he OK"?

"No he thinks his dead wife Claire called him today"

"OMG she died on 911"

"I know but he thinks he recognized her voice" Adam and Jo stare at each other thinking it is a sick joke, but they wondered also could it be true. Mac walked into his office sitting down looking at the phone. He tried using the call back number but it didn't work. He whispered, "Claire are you out there, if you are where are you"? He willed the phone to ring but it didn't , he knew this was going to drive him crazy, not knowing if his wife was dead, and if she was who would do this to him, and why?

I really like this it has an exciting premise and I like Mac so I know this will be very good. This is a very strong start!~ its one of those stories where u wished u thought of first lol (except I know nothing about the show lol) good job

Chapter 2

Mac was trying to put the phone call out of his mind. He kept looking at his cell phone hoping he didn't miss a message. Jo walked over to him, "Mac you know it is a cruel joke, it isn't Claire"

"Jo I know but why would anyone do this to me"?

"Mac you know you have many enemies, anyone of them would do something like this"

"I know you are right, but I swear it was her voice"

"Maybe you want it to be her voice Mac"

"Of course I would want it to be her Jo , she was the love of my life, and she died in that building, at least I thought she did. What if she was alive all this time, and I never went looking for her, she must hate me"

"Mac she is dead"

Mac walked away leaving Jo staring, she didn't know what to do to make him feel better. The day went on Mac didn't talk about it, but his mind was thinking about it all the time. He was glad when it was time to go home, he was mentally exhausted. He knew it wasn't healthy in his job to be distracted, he had to get focused again Jo was probably right it probably was a sick joke. He drove home after grabbing a burger, he went into the house, and sat on the couch flipping the TV on. He was watching M.A.S.H reruns, when he noticed his message machine had a message. He got up but he was afraid to hear who it was. He finally pushed the play button, and it said you have 1 new message. He didn't hear anything at first, than he heard her voice again. "Mac are you there it is me, please pick up". Mac legs almost gave out, he was staring at the machine, he couldn't believe his ears. "Mac I'm scared, he is out, I don't know where I am. He keeps calling me Suzie, I think it is his wife, I think she is dead. Mac, I need". Mac jumped the message cut off, he yelled, "No don't go" He was so angry, he sat down on the couch. He grabbed his cell phone calling Jo on her cell.

"Hello"

"Jo it is Mac, I had another message, it is her"

"Oh God Mac"

"She is alive someone is holding her but why"?

"Your positive it is her voice, or someone that sounds like her. Mac's head was pounding Jo was confusing him. "Jo it was her, I'm sure of it"

"OK Mac, I'm coming over"

"Jo she needs me, she is out there scared"

"OK Mac calm down, we will find out what is going on"

"Why didn't I keep looking"?

"Mac she died on 911, you didn't do anything wrong"

"I don't know what to do Jo, I'm freaking out"

"I will be there in 15 minutes, just relax" Jo hung up, she told her Daughter she was going out for a little while, and left. She was driving to Mac's, she was still thinking it was a prank, but what if it wasn't? Who would have held her all this time, and why"? Jo didn't know but she knew she had to help Mac find out the truth.

Chapter 3

Mac was sitting on the couch staring at the phone. He jumped when he heard someone knocking at his door. He jumped up walking over opening the door.

"Mac are you OK"?

"No I'm freaking out, I swear it is her voice"

"Mac someone is doing this to hurt you, I'm sure if she was alive, she would be here"

"She said she is being held against her will"

Jo walked over to the phone playing the message back. She got chills, it was so real, she could see why Mac was freaking out. "Mac I know this is freaking you out, but please stay focused. Who would want to keep her captive, she went missing on 911"?

"I know it sounds strange, but you know strange things happen. We never found her body, I never got the chance to put her to rest, because I will never know what happened that day"

"Mac she was in Tower 2, she was killed, so many people were never recovered. You are going through something that no one should go through, but I'm sure this is a sick prank"

"What do you want me to do just forget about the calls"?

"No we will find out who is behind this, but your going crazy right now"

"Of course my Wife might be out there, and she thinks I gave up on her"

"No you know that is not true"

"I never should have told you, I swear I'm going crazy, I keep thinking she is scared, and I can't help her" Mac sat down, he was feeling sick. Jo sat beside her, and touch his hand. "I'm sorry Jo, I know you are here to help me, but I can't let this go"

"I will help you, and if she is alive, we will find her"

"How the phone is untraceable, Sid checked remember"

"We will have this phone checked too, if she calls again, lets hope your here to answer it"

"Yeah I hope so"

"I will get you a coffee, just relax" Jo got up walking to the kitchen, as Mac sat just thinking. It was 1 hour later Jo said she had to get going she didn't want to leave her daughter alone to late. He hugged her, she left he locked the door. He decided to go to bed, he laid down in his clothes. He was so drained, he couldn't undress, he laid there thinking. He finally fell asleep, he woke up at 6 am, getting up to take a shower. He got out going to the kitchen to make some coffee. He sat at the kitchen table, when his phone rang. He ran over almost jumping over the couch to get it before going to voice mail.

"Hello"

"Mac"

"Oh hello Jo"

"You thought it was her didn't you"?

"Yeah"

"Don't forget to bring your tape from the machine, I also called the telephone company to check the calls through your number. You are right it wasn't traceable, so that makes it even more suspicious to me"

"I know Jo, I will see you soon"

Mac hung up, he took the tape out of the machine, and put a new tape in. He took a sip of his coffee, and walked out the door locking it. He drove to the office, and walked to Sid's office to give him the tape, he also asked Adam to have a listen to see if he can find any noises in the background he could use. He walked to his office, and sat down, as he looked at the phone noticing a call waiting on line 3.

"Hello"

He didn't hear anything, he yelled, "Hello Claire is that you"?Mac knew someone was there, he whispered again, "This is a sick joke, my wife is dead why are you doing this"?

The phone went dead, he yelled, "Wait don't hang up" Jo walked into the office staring when Mac yelled, "Who is doing this to me, God I can't take this"
