Pam couldn’t help but think about Bobby today. It was their anniversary, and they had been separated for a few months. Marke Graison had been after her to make a commitment for some reason she kept putting him off. It was like she was stuck between heaven and hell- not divorced but not married either.
Mark had sent flowers today but she refused them. She thought it was in poor taste. She appreciated his support but in her heart she felt it should have been Bobby remembering this day. She had been dreading this day, wondering how she would feel. But she was numb. Why did she hope to hear from him if she was over him?
He was with Jenna and she was with Mark. That was the way she wanted it, right? She couldn’t believe how fast he had gotten over her. He’d fought so hard for her but she pushed him away. That was the biggest regret of her life. But she needed him. She didn’t want to admit to anyone least of all herself but she missed him. She needed his arms around her.
Sometimes when she was with Mark she fantasized that she was with Bobby. And she hated herself for it. But that was normal, right? She’d read somewhere that for some women it was celebrities. And in her case it just happened to be the face of Bobby James Ewing, her former husband and lover. He made her feel alive in ways no man ever had and she feared never could. He didn’t have to try the way Mark did. Mark tried too hard, and he knew it. That was the problem. How do you compete with a ghost? You can’t, and Graison knew it. It was almost time to give up the fight. What Mark wouldn’t, couldn’t admit to himself was that you can’t make someone love you .And you can’t fight fate.
Were Pam and Bobby destined to be together? Pam smiled, knowing the answer. Jenna may have had his hand but Pam had his heart. She would call him, just to see if that old feeling was there. And if it was, who knew what the future held? It sure looked good to her.
The end
