One shot with Sue Ellen, and JR, and John Ross.
Class Project
John Ross was in grade 4, and he came home from school, telling JR there was a class project, and some of the children were asked to say speeches in front of the school, and parents. John Ross was so proud, he was asked to say a speech, and he wanted both his parents there. He asked JR if he could call his Ma Ma, and ask her if she could attend Fridays event? JR was in a mood the thought of spending Friday night with Sue Ellen wasn't that thrilling to him, but for John Ross he decided to. John Ross phoned his Mom, and she said she would be there for sure. John Ross was happy, he ran upstairs, and decided to work on his speech. He knew the topic had to be about the person he admired more in life. He sat down with his writing pad, and pencil. It was one hour later JR came into the room, supper is ready in a 1/2 hour, your really into your homework son".
"Yes Dad this is the speech for Friday, it is about the person, I admire the most in life"
"Really who are you writing about"?
"I can't tell you Dad, but I'm sure you can guess". JR smiled, he knew he was writing about him, he was so proud of John Ross. He went downstairs, and told everyone, they all smiled seeing how happy JR was. John Ross came down, but he didn't talk about the project, and no one asked. They all had dinner, than they watched TV, but John Ross turned in early.
It was Friday evening, John Ross was so excited, he wanted to get to school. JR didn't want to get there any earlier than he needed to. John Ross laughed, "Mom will be waiting, I told her to hold a seat for you Dad"
"She isn't bringing anyone else is she"?
"No Dad she isn't dating anyone else, just herself"
"OK lets go, I guess one evening with your Mother will be fine"
"Dad"
"Just kidding". They left, they got to the school, John Ross ran in. He saw his Mom, she was in the second row. She saved JR a seat, he walked over sitting down. John Ross smiled, "You both be good no fighting promise"
"We won't John Ross promise". He ran up to the front, Sue Ellen smiled, "Oh I'm not happy sitting beside you either JR"
"You know I'm happy to see you Sugar"
"Sue Ellen JR, not Sugar"
"Whatever, you won't get upset when he says I'm the person he admires the most tonight will you"?
"No, I know he would say that is you JR, I won't be upset"
"Good I don't want him feeling bad, he has worked on this speech forever"
"I know, he is really excited about it". They both were talking, than the Principal came up to the front, and said a few words. Than the Teacher said a few words, than they called the first student up. It was a young girl named Trish, she said a lovely speech about her Dad. JR whispered, "All kids admire their Dads more".
"Yeah JR , I know". Sue Ellen smiled.
JR was a little upset John Ross was the last one to be called. John Ross walked up to the front, and smiled.
"Who I admire the most in life, I have many people who I admire, for many reasons. I admire my Grandma Jock, he was a great man, he died when I was so young. I admire my Grandpa Clayton, and Grandma, they are so wonderful, they have been so good to me. They teach me things, and they love me, and I love them , and I treasure every moment, I have with them". Sue Ellen and JR both have tears in their eyes.
"I admire my Daddy , he is so busy, he runs a big Company, and he doesn't have much time for me. I understand, he is so busy, and someday, I will be beside him at that company. My Dad is the best, I wouldn't want anyone else but him. The essay today is who I admire more than anyone. I have to say that honor goes to my Mom, she is amazing. She loves me, and we have so much fun together. She doesn't live with me anymore, she lives on her own. I see her every weekend, and she makes me smile, because I know she misses me like crazy. The reason I admire her more than anything is, she let me stay with my Daddy, when I knew she didn't want to. I hurt her the day, I said I wanted to live at Southfork, I loved it there. It is my home, I wanted my Mom to live there with me, but she couldn't. I remember the day she took me to Southfork, and told my Dad, I could live there. I saw the tears in her eyes, I wanted to run to her, and say, don't leave me Ma Ma. I didn't want to leave you Ma Ma, I just didn't want to leave my home, and my Grandma and my Daddy, but I'm so sorry, I left you". I love you Mom, I remember that Day as long, as I live. You are amazing, thank you for being my Mom". Sue Ellen was so overwhelmed, she was crying, everyone around her had tears in their eyes. JR was so proud of John Ross, he hugged Sue Ellen, she whispered, "Oh God JR, how did we raise such a wonderful Son, when we are so screwed up"? He hugged her, "You were amazing Sue Ellen, he is right, I owe you so much". John Ross walked down the stairs, and ran over to Sue Ellen hugging her. She touched his face, "Oh John Ross you should have prepared me"
"You should have known Mom, I love you so much". They both hug , as everyone clapped. The Principal said a few words, and then they were having refreshments. JR walked over hugging John Ross, "Oh I'm so proud of you".
"Your not angry"?
"You kidding that was amazing, you made us both proud".
"Dad I love you, but I wanted to do this for Mom"
"I wouldn't want it any other way, now how about you ask Mom to come to Southfork for the weekend, we can have some fun like the old days"
"What if she doesn't come Dad"?
"Well at least we tried"
"Dad you still love Mom don't you"?
'I will always love your Mom, I never stopped"
"I don't get adults you love her but hurt her"?
"You stop being so smart, go ask her". John Ross smiled, "Dad I love you"
"Yeah I know, I love you too". John Ross ran over, "Mom will you come to Southfork for the weekend, we can go riding, Swimming, it will be so much fun"
"I don't know John Ross"
"Please Mom for me".
"Ok for you, but I hope your Dad is ok with this".
"Yeah it was my idea, he will be good"
"Yeah sure John Ross, lets go maybe we can watch a movie"
John Ross smiled, "Dad she said ok, lets go". JR walked over, Sue Ellen smiled at him, and the three of them walked out together. They maybe weren't a family anymore, but for tonight at least they were.
