Looking for Love in all the wrong places
Ray finished up at Southfork, and drove home, walking into his house, sitting on the couch. He loved working at Southfork, he loved the land, and his home. He hated what he has become, someone that has really made nothing of his life. He was running around fooling around with ladies from bars, just to get him through the night. He use to hang with JR, he got him in trouble enough times. He remembered the day he and JR slept with Wanda and Marilou in Waco. Oh it was a grand old time, the girls were amazing, they were wild, and they gave JR and Ray a night to remember. They paid for it the next day when the two men who belonged to the woman came knocking at Southfork's door wanting revenge for their evening of fun. He was tired of that life, he was ashamed of his time he spent with Lucy. She wanted him, as much as he wanted her, but if Jock knew he would be sick. He probably would have killed Ray, but at the time he was to selfish to care about anyone but himself. He remembered the night he slept with Sue Ellen. She was so drunk but she came on to him. He should have walked away, but she was something but the next day she made him feel like dirt. He hated Sue Ellen for the longest time, but he soon realized he was to blame, of course she wanted to forget it was a mistake, and he knew it. He wanted to rub it in JR's face enough times because he was a smug son of a gun, that thought he was so much better than everyone else.
Ray got up going to shower, he wanted to go have a drink at his favourite bar, and just listen to music. Oh he didn't want to hook up with anyone tonight, he wanted to find someone to settle down with, and someone from the bar, really wasn't the settling down type. He changed, and grabbed his wallet, and left the house driving to the bar.
He walked inside sitting at his favourite table. He ordered a beer, he was just enjoying it minding his own business, when the most beautiful woman walked into the bar. Ray put his beer down, and couldn't keep his eyes off of her. She was different than the woman he met before, she was classy , and probably married. He got up walking over to her table.
"Hi I noticed you, as soon as you walked into the door"
"Well I just came in for a drink, my name is Donna"?
"I'm Ray, would you mind if I kept you company"?
"Sure sit down, that would be lovely". Ray sat down, "Can I get you something"?
"Yes white wine would be nice". Ray waved, the waitress came over, and he gave her the order. She smiled and walked away, and a few moments later, she brought the wine over putting it down.
"Thank you"
"No problem, anything else you would like"?
"Not right now thanks".
Donna smiled, "You come here a lot"?
"Yeah I like this place, but I love the music"
"Oh this is my first time, I needed to get out, and just do something different"
"I know what you mean, this has been a long week".
Donna smiled, "Yeah for me too, would you like to dance"?
"Sure Donna, I was just going to ask you". They got up, and the song "Looking for Love" by Johnny Lee was playing. Ray laughed, he thought what a perfect song for him. She moved into him, as they danced away , it was a few song later , that they sat down having another drink.
Donna smiled, "I better get going, I have to work early tomorrow"
"Oh will I see you again"?
She touched his face, than moved her hands to his chest. She brought her lips to his, and kissed him very gently on the lips. She smiled, "Thanks for tonight, I really needed this". He smiled but was very disappointed when she got up, and walked away. He sat there thinking she was someone he could fall for, and it was over before they even stood a chance, of getting to know each other. He smiled, "Story of Ray's life, love them and leave them, but this time he didn't get to the loving part. He put his coat on when Stella the waitress walked over smiling.
"Thanks for everything Stella see you soon, keep the change". He got up but she handed him a piece of paper.
'What is this"?
"Don't know that lady told me to give this to you"
Ray smiled sitting down opening the piece of paper. He smiled reading it.
"Ray tonight was real special, you will never know what it meant to me. I will come back Friday, if your here maybe it will be a start of a wonderful friendship, if not I will never forget this night".
Donna
Ray smiled he was going to be here Friday, he prayed she didn't change her mind, because he knew Donna might be the one he has been waiting his whole life for. He sure hoped so, he was tired of the lonely nights, he sure wanted to settle down, and have a family. He got up walking out of the bar, but all he could think about was Donna, and he wondered how he would get through the next few days, waiting for friday? He got in his truck, this was the first time in a long time, he actually felt happy, he sure hoped the days of just trying to survive was over. He wanted to be a Husband , Father, and a lover, he hoped his days of looking for love was over, he hope Donna was the one, to make his life complete, because he sure needed that.
The End
