I just had to bring this one up. I watched this in fall 79-spring 80, when I was 7 years old. One of the great couples of soap opera history existed here as well. They were Mac and Rachel Cory, played by Douglass Watson and Victoria Wyndham, respectively. Iris Wheeler was Mac's scheming daughter, always attempting to break Mac and Rachel up. They did break up a few times. And despite the fact that Mac was many years older than Rachel, their love for each other never failed, and they always ended up together again. I loved it when Rachel wasted Janice Frame in the pool, when she found that Janice was slowly poisoning Mac to death in order to inherit his money (they were married at the time). Of real interest to me was the murder of Kirk Laverty (played by Charles Cioffi) in October 79. When he was typing a letter to Iris in his hotel suite, somebody came in and shot him. I remember Iris, one of Kirk's liasons, being jailed for it. It eventually turned out the killer was Jeff Stone(Dan Hamilton), Kirk's lawyer, who also had been having an affair with Kirk's wife, June. I vividly remember Jeff holding Iris and Vivien Gorrow hostage when he was revealed as the killer. It was then that Larry Ewing, the rookie cop, broke in, shot Jeff, and saved Iris and Vivien. I remember being not so happy about that, because I had really liked Jeff, up until then. This happened the week before Christmas of 79.
Does anybody else remember these storylines?

My favorite characters on Another World were Rachel and Mac. I also loved the pairing of Jamie and Marley played by Russell Todd and Anne Heche. I got hooked on their love story the summer they were Nice, France.

I just read on line that Charles Keating who played Carl Hutchinson on Another World died over the weekend. He was 72. I love the character of Carl Hutchinson. I love that Carl and Rachel had twins on the show if though Rachel was in her 50's when she gave birth to their twins and plus she already had grown children when she got pregnant with Carl's babies. LOL

That is so sad he was a great actor. I use to watch Another world but not all the time. I remember the storyline you were talking about.

I miss the soap opera Another World so much. I loved the theme song Take me Away to Another World that Crystal Gayle and Gary Morris sang together. Here are the opening credits of Another World where Crystal Gayle and Gary Morris are singing the song Take Me Away to Another World.
