Chapter 13
Daryl waited until she fell asleep before he got up and got dressed, and left the tent. He walked over to Glenn, and Dale, and told them to watch Carol's tent closely. He told them to wake him up if Ed even tries to get into the tent Carol was in. They told him not to worry, but he was worried, but he knew if he stayed up all night he would not be able to go hunting in the morning.
He walked over to Merle's tent, and went inside. Merle was awake, and Daryl walked over to his sleeping blanket, and sat down.
"Hey little Brother how is Carol"?
"She is sleeping she is scared of Ed, I feel like crap leaving her alone"
"Why are you here than"?
"Because I don't need everyone thinking Carol is wrong being with me Merle"
'Since when do you care what others think"?
"I care about Carol, and I respect her"
"You respect her"
"Hell yes don't say anything about her because I will lose it"
"I don't respect many people Little Brother but I have respect for Carol. I hate when woman stay, and allow a man to abuse them especially when there is a child, but for some reason Carol is different. She protected her child, and I feel bad she has no way out she has to see him everyday, and take his abuse"
"Hell she has to take anything from that man"
"I don't mean beatings, I mean he is going to make her life hell"
"He will deal with me"
"Daryl you have to remember he has a little girl that probably cares for the man"
"I know that sucks Sophia deserves a better Father she drew the short stick like us in that department"
"One thing about Sophia she wasn't beaten"
"Merle I need to sleep, I don't want to talk about this anymore"
Merle laid back, and Daryl laid back, and shut his eyes. Daryl knew it would be hard to sleep knowing she was alone, and Ed was so close, and angry, and he promised her he would protect her. It was 10 minutes later he jumped up grabbing his sleeping blanket, and his cross bow, and walked out of the tent. He walked over putting the blanket down outside her tent, and he sat down, and decided to be right outside her tent all night so he would be sure she was safe.
The Next Morning Carol woke up, and was getting dressed. It was her job to start breakfast, and it was late. She got ready, and opened the tent, and was surprised seeing Daryl on the ground sleeping on his sleeping blanket. She didn't want to wake him so she walked past him, and walked over and put some wood in the fire that Dale, and Glenn started.
"You two must be starving did we get any Walkers last night"? Glenn smiled, and said, "Just one but Daryl got it he was outside your tent all night he was worried about you"
"He needs his sleep, I hate that he was up basically 2 days because of me"
"You couldn't make Daryl do anything he didn't want to do Carol" Dale said making Carol smile. She started breakfast they didn't have much they had a couple cans of beans, rice, and some canned corn. It wasn't really breakfast food but it would have to do until Daryl brought them some meat, and Rick, and Shane went out to get more supplies. She was almost finished heating the food when everyone started coming out of the tent. Sophia ran over giving her Mom a hug.
"Mommy good morning" Sophia said as Carol gave her a kiss on the cheek, and handed her a bowl. Sophia looked at it, and whispered.
"Oh beans again, I want cereal"
"Sweetie I would love to give you cereal but this will have to do"
Carl came over, Carol handed him a bowl, and he walked over to Sophia, and they started to eat. She gave a bowl to Dale, Glenn, Lori, T-Dog and Shane. Amy, and Andrea said they wanted only rice, and Carol handed them some, and she smiled when Daryl came over, and sat down, and she grabbed him a bowl. Rick sat down, and Carol handed him a bowl, and he laughed saying he was sick of beans too.
"Well you better go out , and get more supplies, I don't have much to work with"
"I know thank you for this Carol" Rick said as he started to eat. Merle walked over, and Carol grabbed him a bowl, and handed it to him.
"Yum I love beans it helps keeps my bowels healthy". Merle said sitting down, and the only person laughing was Carol. She couldn't believe his mouth sometimes, but she had to admit she has grown to respect Merle more the last few days.
Everyone was eating when Ed came out, and just stared at Carol. She didn't want a scene she walked over getting him a bowl, and filled it up, and walked over handing it to him. He was not in a good mood he was up all night, and he was hungry, and fed up with all this crap. He knocked the bowl out of her hand, and most of the food went all over her shoes. She was so tired of Ed but she picked up the bowl, and walked over dropping it in the bin to be taken to the pond to be cleaned. She was hungry, and there was only a little left in the pots for herself. She picked up her bowl everyone was staring at Ed who was glaring at Carol making her shake. She wanted to be brave but it was like she was back in the same spot where she was the abused woman, and she had to be brave in front of everyone but she just wanted to run, and never stop until she could get away from Ed. She tried to act like everything was normal as she sat down, and started to eat. Ed was angry he got up knocking her food right out of her hand. Carol jumped up, and screamed at Ed.
"You will not hurt me anymore, I hate you, and I swear this is going to stop do you hear me"
"You are my wife, I want you to get your things, and we are leaving with our daughter"
"No, I am not leaving here with you"
"Yes you are"?
"No" Carol said but Ed moved closer to her making Sophia get up, and run over pushing her Dad.
"Stop it Daddy, I don't want to go with you"
Ed was shocked that his little girl was disrespecting him, but he went to touch her but Sophia ran to her Mom crying.
'She is scared leave us alone Ed you are making this worse. I don't want to be with you anymore, I don't love you, and I will not let you hurt us anymore"
"What is it Carol do you think I am a fool. I know you had sex with Daryl last night, I can see it on your face. You Tramp I will not let you disrespect me like that"
"I didn't have sex with Daryl he made love to me, and made me feel real special"
Ed was shocked he was guessing but hearing it happened coming out of Carol's mouth shocked him, and it shocked the others. Daryl got up, and told Ed to back off or he would have to deal with him.
Ed smiled, "You want this redneck do you think he will ever take care of you like I did. He will drop you like a used Kleenex when the next piece of tail walks in front of him. I wouldn't be surprised Andrea doesn't give him, and his brother special favors".
Andrea got up, "Who the Hell do you think you are you sick Pig"?
"Not in front of the children" Lori said as she told Sophia, and Carl to come to the tent with her.
Ed laughed, "Really you think you are superior to all of us Lori but we all know you were doing Shane here while your Husband was out there looking for you, and his kid."
Rick walked over giving Ed a punch in the face, and Shane looked at Lori, and walked away. Dale walked over touching Carol's arm, and told her to go to her tent, and take Sophia with her. Carol walked over taking Sophia, and walking to the tent as Ed stood up, and started to laugh.
"What are you all going to do kill me, and go on with your pathetic lives"?
Merle stood up, "Sounds like a plan but who will get the pleasure of killing you" ?
Ed stopped smiling he was kind of scared Rick was angry he was pacing, Lori went to her tent with Carl. Andrea, and Amy were staring, but it was Daryl that walked over, and said rather calmly to Ed.
"You have two choices you stay, and touch your wife or child again, I will kill you or you can get your stuff, and go out there, and find someone else that will take your crap"
"I wouldn't survive out there alone that is murder"
"Than go to your tent, and shut up, and I swear I will kill you if you hurt Carol or your Daughter"
Ed walked to his tent, and went inside Daryl turned, and said he was going to get some food they needed meat or they all would die. He walked away, Merle looked at Rick, and said.
"If you want me to take Ed out to the woods, and lose him I will"
"No we will give him one more chance"
Rick walked away, and Merle looked at Andrea, and said.
"What Ed said was him being a jerk no one here thinks you would ever want a Dixon"
Amy smiled as Andrea said, "Thanks Merle but I could use a drink do you have any alcohol in your tent"?
"Andrea" Amy said but Andrea smiled, and said,
"I know it is early but I need something to calm me because I want to go into Ed's tent, and kick the crap out of him"
Merle laughed, "Sure come on, I have some whiskey, I can share" Andrea followed Merle as Amy looked at the dishes, and said,
'Oh great I guess I get to clean the dishes alone" She walked over getting them ready to take them to the pond.
