Tender loving care
Sam was working at the Bar , he hated leaving his Girlfriend of 7 months alone when she was so sick. She had Pneumonia. He took her to the hospital they released her they said she had to rest, and use a Inhaler, and she was given some medication. Melinda told him to go to work but now that he was here he felt horrible, and he couldn't get Melinda out of his mind.
Carla noticed, and asked him what was going on?
"Melinda is sick, and I am worried about her"
'Why did you come in you think you are the only one that can run this place. I am here, and I can keep the others in line. Why don't you go home , and take care of her"
"You like Melinda don't you Carla"?
"Well she is a great improvement from your other choices of woman friends"
"Melinda is different she gets me, and she loves me just as I am"
"You mean she doesn't want to change you like Diane"
"Carla Diane was a good woman but that part of my life is over, so lets not talk about her. I think you are right , I am going home to take care of Melinda , and I am leaving you , and Woody in charge"
Carla smiled, " Yeah Woody in charge we will let him think he is"
Sam smiled he grabbed his coat, and told Woody to call if anything should go wrong. He told Woody to lock up, and Carla was to help out. He left, and got in his car, and drove to the grocery store first. He picked up some ginger ale, some green tea, and other things he thought might be good for Melinda. He left putting the groceries away he than drove to a Flower shop, and went inside , and got her a lovely bouquet of flowers. Melinda loved Carnations so he made sure he had her favourite colors in the arrangement. He left, and was driving to the Condo they lived in. It had a beautiful view of the city. He parked his car, and grabbed the groceries, and flowers, and went inside.
He opened the door, and he went to the kitchen putting the groceries away. He walked out to the living room, and saw Melinda laying on the couch. She was hugging a pillow with a box of Kleenex on her stomach. He walked over sitting beside her as he touched her face, she moved but didn't wake up. Sam smiled as he moved down giving her a kiss on the cheek. Melinda opened her eyes, and Sam smiled as she rubbed her eyes.
"Sorry I woke you, I was so worried about you all day"
Melinda smiled but she was coughing he grabbed her inhaler, and she took a puff. Sam pulled her close as she laid her head on his chest as he rubbed her back, and played with her hair.
"Sam I am so tired but I just fell asleep, I have been coughing all day, I wish it would stop"
"Would you like some ginger ale"?
"No just hold me"
Sam pulled her close as she snuggled close she was so tired, and she felt so content in Sam's arms. She felt so weak, and tired but knowing Sam came home early to take care of her made her feel so much better.
"Melinda I bought you some pretty flowers they are on the table, I know carnations are your favourites"
"Sam you will never know how much this means to me"
"What I'm home taking care of my girl, I never should have left you after we spend hours at the hospital yesterday. I was so worried, and that is new for me , I have been selfish most of my life."
"I was secretly hoping you would come home earlier because I was afraid , I know that is silly"
"Why don't you try to sleep, I am right here"
"Melinda wrapped her arm around him as he held her close she fell asleep laying her head on his chest. He listened to her breathing, and he knew she was having a hard time, and it scared him. He knew he was not leaving her again until she was breathing better she was the most important person in his life, and for once in his life he knew he was not alone, and that he had someone that loved him no matter what. He was not perfect but in Melinda's eyes he was. Sam was amazing he helped her , and she was much better as the days went on. He nursed her back to health, and for once in his life he was not worried about the bar he knew it would always be there. He went back to work a few days later, and everyone asked him how Melinda was feeling. He said she was much better, and they could see this relationship was the real deal. They knew in the near future there would be a wedding, and his friends couldn't be happier. They saw Sam go through a lot after Diane left, but they saw he was truly happy, and they were so grateful that Melinda came into his life when he needed a special someone to make his life complete.
