Another one shot for you Melinda, and Sanda. You both don't know how happy I am that you both love my Walking Dead stories. I'm addicted to the show, and I love Carol, and Daryl.
Memories that Hurt
Hershel saw Carol just staring at some walkers by the fence. He called out to her but she didn't answer she didn't even turn to look at him. He walked over touching her shoulder she had tears on her cheek, he whispered.
"Carol what is wrong"?
"I wonder if one of these things turned my Girl"
"Carol come back inside we will get you something cool to drink. The sun is really hot, and thinking this way isn't helping you"
"My Girl would be 13 today"
"Oh Carol"
"You know what Hershel I couldn't even go , and see my little girl buried, I was so angry, and I felt so guilty. I should be the one in that grave not her. I should be dead not her. How could God do that he took someone so innocent, and kept me alive. He wanted to punish me because I was a horrible Mother. She was all alone, I don't know if she cried out for me. She must have hated me for not being there to protect her"
"No she loved you, I don't know what to say, but I have lost so many people do to this horrible disease or Virus, but blaming ourselves it will not help"
"Why do we even try Hershel we will die in the end you know it"
"Hush we will survive this, and you are one of the most amazing ladies I have ever seen. You are amazing with Judith, and you are a wonderful role model, I believe you are here for her, and maybe one other person"
Carol turned looking at him, "Who"?
"You know Daryl he has changed a lot since I first met him. He was angry, and bitter, but he has changed, and I think it is because of you"
"He doesn't even know I exist"
"Oh really he keeps a eye on you, and you are fooling yourself if you think that man doesn't know you exist"
"Hershel really"
" Carol promise me you will not blame yourself your Daughter would be sad thinking you are not fighting to survive, and keep her memory alive"
"Beth and Maggie are sure lucky to have you as their Dad"
"I'm the lucky one but can I tell you something"?
"Of course"
"I feel like you are like a Daughter you remind me of my girls"
"My Dad was nothing like you lets say he was just as mean as my Husband Ed"
"I'm sorry Carol but mean men like your Father, and Ed made you stronger. You hold your own here, I feel safe knowing I have you, and Maggie protecting me"
Carol smiled, "Not Daryl, and Rick and Glenn"?
"We all stick together how about you join me for a snack and a cool drink what do you say"?
"I'm sorry how I acted earlier I was just sad"
"Our little secret we all have our bad days". Carol hugged Hershel as they walked inside to have their drink, and talk some more.
The End.
