I thought I would start a topic about the episode "The Letter" where Bobby and Pam end their marriage at Thanksgiving Square. I am very interested to hear your thoughts on this episode.

Let's see. Let's have a minimum of communication, and always assume the worst. And when we finally do communicate, let's have the person that has the worst assumption start the conversation.
When the Thanksgiving Square conversation began, I wanted to scream at Bobby to let Pam talk first. But no such luck. You could tell that was the last thing Pam was expecting to hear. I wish she would have interrupted him and asked some clarifiying questions.

The Pam and Bobby scene in Thanksgiving Square was one of my favourite scenes in Season 6, it was so sad.

Try this scenario out.
Everything about early season 6 still apply's. Expect a slight alteration with Holly's buyout of JR from her company.
One night after fire, Pam and Bobby have their dinner. During that dinner, they clear the air about their feelings, dreams and expectations. They reconcile that evening. Sorry no letter!!
The following morning, Catherine stops to visit Pam and who should open the door but Bobby. Catherine nearing chokes. Bobby has to leave to meet with the builders at SF. Catherine does her best to put doubt in Pam's mind, but Pam is so happy.
Holly visits JR that morning and buy's JR out of Harwood Oil. Holly passes Catherine on the way out of Ewing Oil. Catherine informs JR of the Bobby/Pam development. JR is unhappy, bet he tells Catherine he has more important things to handle today. He promises they will get together to discuss later.
Holly visits Bobby at SF and informs him of the JR buyout. Bobby is disappointed, be he understands. As Holly is leaving, she passes Catherine on her way to see Bobby.
Catherine is insane (something we already knew) and pulls a gun on Bobby. She tells Bobby that Pam will never have him. She details her duplicity over the course of the last year to gain his love (in true TV fashion, I have to have the guilty confess all to tie up loose ends). She details her partnership with JR to breakup Bobby's marriage. As she is about to shoot Bobby, Ray jumps her and takes the gun away. Catherine is knocked unconscious. Ray had picked Clayton and Ellie up from the airport. Ellie was not going to stay away while Southfork lay in smoldering ashes. Ellie heard everything Catherine had to say about JR.
Later that evening, Ellie, Bobby and JR had a discussion by the pool at SF. Ellie told JR how disgusted she was with him. His duplicity with Catherine against Bobby, which almost turned deadly. His situation with Sue Ellen. And his deplorable conduct during the fight for Ewing Oil. She tells JR that he is not welcome to stay at SF. He needs to find new living arrangements.
Later, during the final audit. The Canadian fields come in. Bobby is the winner. However, Jock never wrote a letter. Bobby wins 51%. One day later, JR asks Bobby to buyout his 19%. Ray and Donna want to buy 10% of JR's 19%. Bobby buys the remaining 9%. Final Ewing Oil ownership percentages. Bobby 60, Ray & Donna 20, Ellie 10, Gary 10. Donna goes to work with Bobby at Ewing Oil.
JR uses his 19% royalties plus other funds he has embezzled from Ewing Oil over the years to buy two other smaller oil companies.
Bobby ultimately gets Pam, Ewing Oil and Southfork.
JR lives in the old Ewing Condo. Wheeling, dealing, conniving, backstabbling, two timing like he always has. Except this time, the Ewings don't have to put up with it.

Bruce, I LOVE this storyline idea for season 6. I would definitely watch your version of season 6.

Another SAD observation to make about Bobby and Pam's dinner at the Bistro is if you notice closely Bobby and Pam are walking arm and arm back to thier table after they dance and Pam is making a line on the wall all the way back to their table. You can tell that they still love one another. Here is the Youtube link to the Bistro scene. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9QUkF25ef0

I think Pam and Bobby were dumb, cos they believed in JR and Katherine and not in each other. But the divorce storyline was very well written and really sad (such in real too). I think too much time passed when Pam and Bobby realized that they were manipulated and cheated by Katherine and JR.

Bobby and Pam's relationship was never really the same when Jenna got pregnant with Bobby's baby when he and Pam were divorced.

Well, if I remember right. Katherine read the letter to Bobby. Why didn't he grab that letter out of her hand? That would have been Great! Than Pam could have Slap the taste out of Katherine mouth! I know that Pam does slap her.

I wish that Bobby would have grabbed that letter out of Katherine's hand in that scene as well.

Alas, it wouldn't be a soap opera without miscommunication and rash decisions.
