chapter 6
“I thought we could catch a movie, if you would like,” Billy smiled as Jessie opened her door. “I see you’re not afraid to let me in this time.”
Jessie laughed. “I wasn’t afraid to let you in last time.”
“Uh-huh. Well you look beautiful. I love that dress on you- very flattering.”
“Thanks- I don’t get to wear dresses that often but this is my favorite.”
He pulled her close to him. “It’s mine too.” Jessie’s heart beat rapidly as he leaned in to kiss her. She was still so nervous, even though he was doing everything he could to put her at ease.
“You okay?” he smiled.
“Yes.”
“I can always stop.”
“No! I mean…you don’t have to.” They both laughed. After a few more minutes, Billy checked his watch.
“We’d better get going if we’re going to see a decent movie.”
“All right,” she smiled and then she locked up her apartment. It was best she leave then anyways. She didn’t trust Billy, and she wasn’t entirely sure that she trusted herself either.
00000
When they got at the movies, they had a hard time deciding what to see. Jessie really wanted to see Sex and the City 2 but somehow she didn’t think Billy would go for that. Instead they settled for the A-team, she’d heard that it had some romance in it and she’d liked that show from the 80’d. It turns out they had a good time, she held on to his hand during some of the action scenes and he laughed. Neither of them wanted to leave the theater.
Billy decided to take her out to dinner next. “What would you like?”
“I think I would like a salad please?”
He looked away from her. “Now that’s hardly a meal. I like a girl who enjoys her meal. Don’t tell me that’s all you eat when you’re away from a man?”
“Stop, you’re doing it to me again!”
“I’m serious, you see girls that take two bites of a salad and say they are full and you know they go home and raid their refrigerator when they get home. That drives me crazy. I like it when a girl enjoys her meal.”
Jessie laughed, he always made her laugh. “How about I order a steak and potato along with that salad?”
“That’s my girl. We’ll get along great,” he reached over and squeezed her hand gently. Jessie laughed. She was hungry, and he was right. She probably would have gone home and ate something after he left. Guys weren’t supposed to know about these things; if they did they certainly weren’t supposed to talk about them. Billy Lewis was definitely a handful. She thought about Sanda and Josh, and what kind of time they must be having. She would have to call later and find out. Phillip was going to Melinda’s for the evening, she hoped that they would be having a great time. Jessie knew that she was.
They ate their meals and Jessie continued to laugh all during her meal. Billy was so crazy, she’d never met anyone like him. She was more reserved, but that was okay. Sometimes opposites truly did attract and in this case that seemed to be happening. This time when he walked her to her door, he didn’t have to ask her if he could kiss her good night; they both knew that it would be okay. As a matter of fact it would be more than okay.

Great update MelindaJo. I LOVE how you are writing Billy and Jessie. Billy was also one of my favorite characters on Guiding Light next to his brother Joshua Lewis of course. I think it would have awesome to date him as well.

Chapter 7
At Melinda’s house, she was nervously waiting Phillip’s arrival. She was hoping he would like her apartment; it was nothing like where he lived. It was small and one bedroom- just big enough for her and her two cats. She liked it but she didn’t know what he would think. He didn’t seem to her to be judgmental, that was one reason she liked him so much. The doorbell rang, and nervously she answered it.
“Melinda,” he greeted her with a kiss. “You look nice,” he smiled.
She wore a pale pink halter dress and had her blond hair brushed down over her shoulders. She smiled, giving him a hug. “Thank you, so do you. Come in please.”
“I don’t know about you but I’ve been looking forward to this all week.”
“Me too. The week’s really flown by though. I’m ready for a good movie.”
“What did you pick out?” Phillip asked, peeking over her shoulder.
“I thought we could watch Something’s gotta give. I love Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton. It’s supposed to be pretty funny. We could watch something else if you like… I don’t have too many things that guys might like…I have a few Star Trek films,” she laughed.
“No, the movie’s fine. I like Nicholson myself. It doesn’t really matter as long as we have the evening to ourselves,” Phillip pulled Melinda in for a kiss. After a few minutes she pulled away.
“Keep that up and we’ll never get anything accomplished,” she smiled.
“Accomplishments are entirely overrated,” he whispered, pulling her close to him. Feeling unsure of herself, she pulled away gently, grabbing the movie.
“Should we order the pizza now?” She asked, trying to hide the nervousness in her voice.
“That sounds like a good idea.”
While Phillip sat down, Melinda called Donato’s and placed the order. She put the movie in and sat on the couch next to him. They started laughing, and pretty soon Phillip had his arm around her. Melinda looked up at him, and he placed his hands on her face and they began to kiss. He brought her around to sit her on his lap where they faced each other and continued to kiss and his hands roamed her back. Finally the doorbell rang. They looked at each other, and Melinda felt a sense of relief. She hadn’t intended on going that far, not that she was sorry. She just didn’t want to ruin things by going too fast. So she was saved by the delivery, They went on to have an enjoyable evening, and even had a wonderful kiss goodnight. She couldn’t wait to go home and tell Jessie and Sanda about this.

chapter 8
The girls were at lunch, sitting around laughing and talking. No one had brought up the elephant in the room: the men. It was as if no one wanted to jinx their luck, even though none of them could think of anything else but the past few weeks.
“Ladies, excuse me, but your meal has been taken care of,” smiled the waiter.
They all looked at each other. “Who would have done such a thing?” They all looked around, and didn’t see any familiar faces.
“Oh,” Jessie smiled. “It must have been Billy. I told him we were having lunch here today.”
“Go on girl, you must be doing something right. You have him hooked,” Melinda teased.
“I know for a fact he’s crazy about you,” Sanda agreed.
“You really think so?”
“I have it on good authority that you are definitely his girl.”
“And I know that Josh is driving Billy nuts talking about you. He hasn’t stopped talking about you since you two have met. He says he’s like a broken record,” Jessie laughed.
“I hope so. I don’t know what it is about him but something tells me that he’s the one. After John left I didn’t think I could get involved with another man, not for a long time. But Josh is different. He’s so sweet. I hope this works out,” Sanda said wistfully.
“Oh, you two will make it. I know you two will. Imagine if we were sisters-in laws? Wouldn’t that be so much fun?” Jessie asked.
“That would be the best. Don’t worry Melinda, we will always think of you as a sister.”
“I know. I feel the same way.”
The waiter came along with the dessert menu. “The gentleman insisted you order some dessert,” he smiled.”
The girls laughed, the looked over the menu. Jessie and Melinda ordered the cheesecake while Sanda ordered the chocolate cake.
“How Is Billy treating you? Are you used to him yet?” asked Melinda.
“I don’t think I could ever get used to him. But I’d like to try,” laughed Jessie.
“One of these days we’ll have to double date. Imagine the Lewis boys in the same room. Won’t that be something?” smiled Sanda. “And then we’ll each take turns double dating with you too Melinda.”
“That sounds like fun.”
Soon the girls said their goodbyes and went home. It was the weekend and It was time for Sanda and Jessie’s double date.
“Sanda and Jessie, you look very nice. It’s hard to say which one of you looks more beautiful. Which is why I won’t say it,” laughed Billy.
Everyone laughed. “Stop before you get yourself into trouble,” Josh laughed. “Ladies you look very nice.” He kissed Jessie on the cheek and gave Sanda a quick kiss on the lips.
Every time Josh kissed her, no matter how briefly, she wanted to melt. He was everything she had been looking for in a man.
“How was your week? Has Rick been working you too hard?” Josh asked.
“We’ve been busy. We’ve had a bad car accident but thankfully everyone was all right. I was there a few hours after my shift was supposed to end,” Jessie told them.
“That’s my girl- so dedicated and caring. I knew I liked you for a reason,” Billy squeezed her hand. He could be so sweet when he wanted to.
“That’s why I love Sanda so much, she has a good heart and she really loves her job. You see some nurses who are in it for the wrong reason but not Sanda- her heart is really in it.”
Sanda’s heart stopped. Did Josh just really say what she thought he did? “Josh, did you just hear yourself?”
“No, what did I say?”
“Never mind, it wasn’t important.”
“Little brother, you just said that you loved Sanda,” Billy smiled and so did Jessie.
Josh smiled and took her hand. “So I did. Maybe I should say it properly. Sanda, I love you. Thank you for making me so happy when I wasn’t sure I would ever find happiness again.”
Sanda leaned in and kissed him. “I love you too Josh.”

chapter 9
As Josh danced with Sanda, she couldn’t help but think how good it felt to be in his arms. It felt so natural. She thought they were the best looking couple in the room.
“A penny for your thoughts?” Josh smiled.
“Oh I was thinking I was probably the envy of all the girls in the room, “ Sanda sighed.
“Funny I was thinking along the same lines.”
“Does this night ever have to end?”
“It doesn’t have to.”
Sanda blushed. “Oh no, I didn’t mean it like that.”
Josh laughed. “That’s okay. I knew what you meant. Whenever the time is right I’m sure it will happen. I can be patient.”
“Thank you for understanding. Most guys wouldn’t . I’ve made the mistake of rushing in and I just want to be sure. Not that I don’t want to. It’s just I’m afraid of making a mistake.”
“I hope you wouldn’t feel like you were making a mistake with me. I would treat you very well, the way a woman deserves to be treated. I’m not a one night stand kind of guy. I’ve fallen for you, Sanda, in case you haven’t noticed.”
“I also care for you. You’re pretty special Josh Lewis,” Sanda leaned in and kissed him on the lips. No, she definitely didn’t want this evening to end.

“I can’t believe you roped me into seeing Toy Story 3,” Billy laughed. “The things I do for love.”
“Well I love these movies. I’m really just a big kid at heart. Besides I’ve seen some action movies for you and you did say I could pick out the movie,” Jessie laughed.
“That is true. But did it have to be a kid’s movie?”
“Hey, you promised you wouldn’t argue with me! And I didn’t hear you complain. I thought you liked it.”
“It was actually pretty good. As long as I'm with you I’ll never complain.” Billy leaned in and kissed her. “At least it wasn’t Sex and the city. I would have had to put my foot down for that one.”
“That’s okay. That’s what I have my girlfriends for. Now what would you like to do next?”
“I thought we could go for a walk around the mall since we’re already here?” Billy suggested.
“Okay.”
Billy took her hand. “You know kiddo, I feel at least ten years younger when I’m with you. And that’s definitely a good thing. You’ve really made a new man out of me.”
“That’s so sweet.”
“I’m serious. I don’t have the best track record with love and I hope you can help me remedy that.”
“Is that what this is?”
Billy stopped and looked her in the eyes. “Can’t you tell? I just saw Toy Story for goodness sake.” They both laughed. “You make me laugh like no one else ever has. You are so cute. I always have the best time. And it’s all I can do to keep from kissing you. In fact… I just can’t help myself…” Billy leaned in and kissed her.
Jessie sighed. It always felt like the first time whenever they kissed. She wasn’t sure where they were headed but she sure liked the journey.

Phillip and Melinda were at the restaurant, having a good time. He leaned forward and took her hand.
“I’ve never met anyone like you. All of my relationships have been complicated. I’ve made them complicated. I think I’m ready for something smooth this time. I’m glad you came along, Melinda.”
Melinda smiled. “I’m glad you came along too. I’m just so afraid of being hurt. I hope you don’t hurt me.”
“I promise to try my best not to. I’ve been pretty rotten in the past, I’ll be honest. But I will try my best to be a good partner. I don’t want to lose what we have. We have something special going on and I would be a fool to ruin it now.”
Melinda was so happy to hear him talk like this. No one had ever made her feel this way before. He always knew what to say that pleased her. It always worried her that he seemed so alone. She thought it was time to find Alan-Michael and bring him back into his life. It might be the best thing for him- or it might cost her the best thing that had ever happened to her.

chapter 10 sorry its taken me so long to update but I've had a major case of writer's block It had been a long flight and Melinda had hoped she was doing the right thing. The last thing she wanted to do was jeopardize her relationship with Philip. He was the best thing to happen to her in a long time. He was treating her well; he was sweet and romantic and a lot of fun to be with. They hadn’t taken their relationship to the next step yet but she anticipated that would happen any time. Ever since the barbeque her life had changed and she wanted to return the favor for him. She only hoped she wasn’t making a colossal mistake. At Hilton Hotel at Easton Towne Center in Columbus Ohio, Melinda nervously checked out her surroundings. It was nice, the kind of place she figured a brother of Philip would work. The receptionist, Barbara, looked busy but friendly so she hoped she was doing the right thing. “May I help you?” “I’m here to see Mr. Spaulding.” “Do you have an appointment?” “No but it’s important that I see him.” “I’m sorry but Mr. Spaulding is a busy man and he doesn’t take walk-ins. I would be happy to make an appointment if I knew what this was in regards to.” “This is personal. I’m afraid it can’t wait,” Melinda said firmly. “I’m afraid there’s not much more I can do for you.” “Barbara, I’m taking my break now.” Out walked a handsome dark haired man. It had to be Alan-Michael. He was as good looking as his brother. “Can I help you?” “I would really like to see you. It’s very important. I know that I don’t have an appointment but this isn’t the kind of thing you can schedule,” Melinda explained. “What’s this about?” “It’s about your brother Phillip.” Alan-Michal and Melinda looked at each other for a few minutes. She didn’t know if he was going to throw her out on the spot. “Should I call security?” Barbara asked. “No, it’s okay. I’ll see her. Come this way.” Nervously, Melinda followed him. She had no idea what she was going to say to him but she had to get him to see how important it was that he see his brother. Lives depended on this. “I’m sorry. I didn’t get your name.” “I’m Melinda. I’m Phillip’s girlfriend.” “He always did have good taste. I suppose he told you all about me.” “He hasn’t said anything about you. He doesn’t know I’m here.” “I see. And you took it upon yourself to reunite us?” “ No. Yes. I think it would mean the world to him to have him back in his life. He’s been so depressed after your father died. I hate seeing him like that. Family means everything to him even if he doesn’t always show it. I don’t know what happened between you two, it may be none of my business…” Melinda started. “You’re right Melinda. It is none of your business. Phillip and I have fought over everything between our father and money to women. We have a history that’s complicated. He’s never reached out to me before. Why should I do anything for him?” Alan-Michael asked. “Because he’s your brother! Doesn’t that mean anything to you? You can’t be so cold hearted as to turn your back on him when he needs you the most. Family is all that matters in life. I know you have a lot but I don’t care who you are, you wouldn’t get where you are without your family. You need him just as much as he needs you. Please, think about it at least,” Melinda pleaded. “Have you said your peace?” Melinda nodded. “I’ll think about it but I won’t make any promises,” Alan-Michael told her. Melinda smiled than turned around. She did her best. Now the rest was up to him. She tried and she hoped that he was as good hearted as his brother. She had a fight on her hands she could tell.
